It is unlawful for any person to leave open and unprotected any cellar or trap door, vault, gratings, or other sidewalk opening, or to permit or suffer any sidewalk or passageway which it is such person’s duty to keep in repair, to fall into disrepair to become broken, uneven or in a condition dangerous to persons using the same.
