Unlawful cross-connections now existing or hereafter installed, services requiring backflow prevention devices and unlawful use or operation of a private water supply system served by the city public water supply system are declared to be nuisances, and in addition to any other provisions and lawful measures for the abatement of nuisances, shall be subject to abatement in accordance with the enforcement provisions established in Chapter 1.20 EMC. In addition, if the person in whose name the service is established under the records of the city water department fails to timely abate the nuisance, the superintendent is authorized to discontinue water service to that person.
