The volunteer members of the seniors against crime unit shall be appointed by the chief of police with the approval of the city council. As volunteers, the members shall not be entitled to nor subject to any city of Everett employee benefits, civil service requirements, nor coverage provided by the State Law Enforcement and Fire Fighters Retirement System or the Public Employees Retirement System, as presently provided for or as hereafter amended.
