The city treasurer shall keep a record of all warrants presented to the city treasurer for payment and so endorsed by the city treasurer together with the date when each warrant so endorsed was so presented and the numbers of the same and the city treasurer shall thereafter call in such warrants in the order in which they were issued by the city clerk of said city.
