It is the purpose of this chapter to adopt the State Building Code and the International Property Maintenance Code (the “IPMC”). The State Building Code is amended a minimum of once every three years. Likewise, the International Code Council, Inc., publishes an updated IPMC every three years. This chapter shall incorporate all such amendments to the State Building Code and IPMC updates automatically at the time such amendments and updates become effective. Amendments adopted by the city of Everett to the State Building Code and the IPMC, now or in the future, shall survive all amendments to the State Building Code and updates to the IPMC and will remain in full force and effect unless repealed or amended by the city of Everett, or unless otherwise prohibited by law, in which case such city amendment shall not be valid, but only to the extent the law prohibits such city amendment.
